Hey guys,

Just found this board. Looks like lots of good info here. So I have a question...

Looking at a 1997 20 Renken Seamaster walk around with a chevy I/O. About 300 hours on it. Any thoughts. Guy only wants 14k for it. Seems kind of cheap compared to others this size.

Also, I have a 97 Dakota 2wd. Think that I will have any toubles at the ramp?

Any inputs from you all out there would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Re: first boat

My guess is that it has a 3.0l engine in it. If so, a 20ft boat with that motor would be underpowered and may not serve your needs.

Compare this to a 20ft boat with a 135hp OB, except that the outboard weighs 200lbs more than normal.

Just something to consider..

riggerdave,

What type of I/O-Volvo or Merc?

4 cyl., V-6 or V-8?

Your Dakota may be a little light, especially on a launch ramp with 2WD. I would expect this boat, engine trailer package to exceed 5000 pounds easily. Your Dakota would need the 3.9 V-6 and the full trailer tow package at a minimum, even then-borderline.
