Fireline on Spinning reel

Anyone had any problems with braided line or fireline etc on spinning face reel? I put some 20# line on a spinning reel and after about a month, the entire line will rotate with the spool. In other words it is not held tight to the reel and the entire wad of line pulls off easily even with the bail closed and doesn't allow me to retrieve a lure because there is no anchor for the line on the spool. I guess I will just use mono or flouro.

Thanks,
Glen

That will happen when putting superline on any reel without some mono backing, Glen.

Just put 25-50yds of mono on the spool before filling it with the Fireline or other superbraid. I have to do that with my baitcasters or they slip, too.

Or, put something on the spool for the line to grip. I put electrical tape on one of my baitcaster spools with Power Pro. Seemed to do the trick.

I put a layer or two of heavy packaging string on mine.

It also helps fill the reel, as you don't need 200 yards of line to fish for walleye or northern.
