finding year of 25 HP Merc.

I bought a 14 ft. boat last year at an estate sale, seems owner past & daughter did not know too much except the engine was serviced before her father's passing& engine had not been used for around yr. or so. it looks almost brand new / however how would i find year on it? I also have another question but will ask this one first! Thanks for the help in advance!

There is typically a metal tag on the right side of the transom mount. That will have the serial number that you need to look up the year.
