Back story

So i got what seemed to be a smokin deal on a 95 crestliner 1650 pro am which is an all welded hull, for $1000, boat trailer and 70hp johnson, test drive went well so i bought it.

its a bit of a cosmetic nightmare, has been poorly recarpeted over a second layer of 3/4in plywood in both the floor and front fishing deck, naturally they covered over all the forward storage as well...the thing was filthy and just plain well used....and stored outside uncovered.

other than that, its pretty good, leaks no water at all, all electrical items work, and it ran great right up untill it burst a 2in long fuel line to the middle carb and trashed that cylinder for me.... to the tune of $1500 in repairs.

so now im in this thing $2500 plus required items as it is my first boat and came with nothing.

the payoff came this week

Finally got it back on the water thursday morning, fresh off the rebuild still needing breakin hours finished. i was by myself, and everything went super smooth, starts right up purrs wonderfully, a bit smoky due to the extra heavy oil mix. but its not obnoxious....

runs great off and on for 3 hrs short trips and then drift to cool...all important heat cycles. it runs far better than it did before it hurt itself.

the river is peaceful as its still running a bit high and the normal hangout spots are submerged at the moment, and it was a weekday. granted this made me a bit nervous being a trial run of sorts.

i even managed to help a guy out on my way back in, the ramp is in a protected slough, and his rig evidently didnt want to start for him and he managed to drift to the opposite side with his truck still sitting on the ramp. so i hauled him back to the dock so he wasnt stranded.

i then managed to load my boat in 1 shot on only about the 4th time i have loaded it. (thanks to iboats i figured out i had the trailer to deep before).

the only issue was a loose ground no doubt a small oversight during the motor rebuild...it just wouldnt let enough juice to flow for the starter to work it spun so slowly the bendix didnt function.

now that its running again im already planning to tear out the insides and get the wet foam out and the extra layer of floor and re claim my forward storage.

sorry for the book just wanted to share my experience..
