Got the '56 RD and AD-11 painted, and a '55 sportwin painted like a '56 on a redone jonboat and trailer that I'm going to sell. Still waiting on decals for the AD-11. I broke the darned stirrup linkage on the carb's throttle shaft by overtightening the set screw like an idiot, so after I source it, the AD will be complete. Those are smooth running little fellows. The feathercraft ranger is what the RD is going on. It's a '56 as well.
Thought you guys might like some pics.

NICE!

Maybe you're not a "certified mechanic"...but I'd say you're a certified painter :)

Are those NYMarine colors?

THanks for the comments. THe paint is a hand mix on the Rd to match a section of the air box that still looked good. It's close, but not quite orange/copper enough to suit me. It looks too much like the '57 holiday bronze. The AD is a hand mix from the auto paint supply house that is mixed to match the last can of NYmarine that I used a couple of years ago on an FD-11, and it's really close.
I'm getting better with the painting, but of course by the time I finish a motor and get in practice, I don't do one for so long that it's back to square one. The AD paint was one of the best I've done so far when it comes to the paint laying down nice and smooth and having a really nice gloss. For me, it all comes down to preventing overspray from getting on parts other than what you're trying to paint.

AMAZING!!!!! nom, nom, drool, drool, nom, nom!!!! I love my 20 hp, but I really want a 30 hp like yours. I love the feathercraft(?) in the background too. You'll be the coolest guy on the water for miles!

Thanks guys,
Ol' "Twister" is definitely a camera hog. She'd better start running rabbits like her sister or she's gonna be hogging someone else's camera as a yard dog.. :)
I'm hoping to save the AD for my oldest son. I've also got a '57 Ev 7.5 for my youngest boy...... I'd like to leave it all original since it still looks decent. I bought these both at the same time from an old fisherman's grandson. I was glad to get them. They came with a nice pressure tank as well.

Nice job on the motors jb. I think you're better than what you give yourself credit for. I have several oldies to strip and restore myself.
Last weekend, I just picked up a 1951 Lone Star 14' aluminum boat. It'll look nice, with my '54 Fleetwin on it. :D
