First outing of this season (doing major renovations to the "other" money pit - house) and I finally did it, left the plug out. Of course, before we left the house the admiral asked if I planned on wearing my regular shoes, where were my water shoes? and I sealed my fate by saying "I'm not planning to get my feet wet today".

So we put the 'lil jon in and pull it up on the ramp while she's parking the truck and I make a quick pit stop. She wanders down and says "is all that water supposed to be in there?". We actually got a pretty good laugh out of it, and got to make sure the bilge pump still works. :D

The guy who pulled up to launch while we were draining it had that all knowing smirk on his face, but didn't say a word.

I'm sure it was the last minute Pit Stop that distracted you from your pre launch check list !!!:D

It's just your imagination. Nice of you to join the club, I'm a member;)

My boat has alot of horizontal ribs ( big jonboat ) and it took forever to drain it when I " practiced " launching my boat w/o the plug. It was in the water 2 mins, but it took longer to drain it back in the parkinglot. Kinda embarrasing sitting in your boat while your dad drags it right back up the ramp, in front of waiting launchers, while the boat pees like a horse in the parkinglot for 5 mins.

I leave my plug wrench in my cup holder all summer as a reminder.....I will probably still forget the plug at some point.

I am wondering if you can buy a gold tie tack drain plug pin.

Well, I got to thinkin' about it and decided I'm going to mount a spare plug on the winch handle so it will: A. remind me to put it in, and B. be readily available if I somehow "overlook" it again.

It did clean out all the dead June bugs and crane flies that had accumulated over the off season. So I got that goin' for me.

Re: Finally joined the club!

After my own experience i now keep a plug on the keychain as a reminder and I also fitted a drain that has a ping pong ball in it that blocks the incoming flow but rolls back to allow draining. The ball would buy me time if i ever did it again is my thinking.
