This "Spring" has been rough... More rain than not, and when it wasn't raining, I was working... Go figure... haha!
So today it was a bit overcast, but no rain, and no work!
Took our new to us 1985 Jay-Bee fish/ski out. First shakedown and fishing trip..
We tested it quickly back in August when we bought it, but this was the "Big One.."
In prep over the last couple months, I did the usual new to you maintenance.. (impeller, gear oil, plugs etc..)
Took core samples, and paid CLOSE attention... Everything came out light and dry..
Even drilled some MORE along transom, near all thru-hulls etc... Was bitten by that before.. the few I took on my other boat were good, so I stopped... Turns out, I had hit the only "Good" spots in that transom and stringers.. Live and learn..
Still, all came out good this time...
This boat came with a 50# 12V Minn-Kota Power-Drive LEGACY on it.. Missing foot pedal..
Didn't realize the difference in pedals and legacy vs V2 etc.. till after we bought it.. So, over the winter, we located a proper foot pedal online and snagged that..
Trolling motor worked like a dream! was surprised actually..
The 1995 Johnson 115 (PO converted to premix) on it ran FLAWLESSLY.... The trim worked fine (as expected) and the boat itself just cruises nicely.. Was a pleasure for sure!!
Fish-finder works... Now to learn how to actually USE it.. haha!!
The biggest issue with it really now, is the interior and the cosmetics of it.. Kind of an eyesore..
But now I can feel good about cleaning that up and improving it as I go..
We got some hours of fishing in and just had a blast today!!
I know pics are good, so here are some... approx 18 sec vid at speed coming soon... lol
