Finally got my boat in the water-and took on a lot of water

The man I bought the boat from never had it in the water after he bought it. The owner previous to him put in second bilge pump (1500 GPH) in addition to the original 800 GPH. Both are operational.

I wondered why there was a lot of caulk around every conceivable opening including some odd places.

I filled the bilge and let it sit for 24 hours and not a leak was found in that area.

So finally I get the boat in the water yesterday, and immediately the bilge stars to fill with water, I didn't even start the engine.

I tied it to the dock and started looking for the water. In the bilge there are 2 aerators, one for each bait tank. Sure enough one of the Rule pumps motor head keepers was broken and allowed water to enter.

I found the part under some bilge gunk, I wonder how long this was broken, I would guess the guy just lived with it and kept the bilge pumps going.

Aside from some starter problems that I fixed today and the pump replacement, I am ready to try again.

Never would have got this far without this forums help

Thank You
