OK bucket list stuff.

When I bought the boat, I also bought an acoustic guitar. You know...sitting on the stern while a drift strumming away

Yea right, never learned how to play it and it's been 6 seasons now with this boat

So when my 1st mate asked me what I wanted for my birthday this year, I replied "guitar lessons!" This week is my third lesson and it feels great, the books and the videos just didn?t do it for me and I finally got fed up and went with the instructor. Should be able to play a couple of cords by season?s end:D

Just keep at it no matter how difficult it may get. I am self taught and my guitar teacher( me!) is horrible, but i still enjoy it and try to improve everday, been at it for about 4 years now. You do teach youself as the instructor can show you what to do or give give tips but ultimately its just repetition and muscle memory that moves you to the next level. Good luck!

Re: Finally got lessons to go with my boat guitar

Nice.. I'm 34 and been playing for about 6-months on a cheapo acoustic. Been practicing quite a bit. Self taught, besides videos from youtube. There are a couple of really good teachers on there, links below. I have the most major and some minor chords down. Been working on Tears in Heaven, House of the Rising Sun, Stairway to Heaven, and smaller bits of several others. After you have the chords down the practice comes in to changing between chords and strumming. I have difficulty with the latter.
Been watching Justin and Marty links below great teachers:

Stick with it.

Thanks guys for the encouragement.

Playing the guitar is something that I've always wanted to do, but I never quite got a handle on it.

I promise I won't sell this one at the yard sale like I did with the last one:facepalm:
