I have a 94 Evinrude 200 HP engine. I think the oil injection system is a VRO2. Although I have never had an oil problem I am getting a little nervous and am considering disabling the oil injection system and mixing 50:1 directly in the tank. I have read many posts about doing this on iboats. My question is could I just put gas and oil mixed together 50:1 right in the oil reservoir and forget about disabling the system? Seems like a quick and simple solution to me.

Off the top of my head that doesn't sound like a great idea. Plus, it's no big deal to disable the VRO, just plug the oil inlet line and disconnect the electrical connector.

Like he said, discontinuing it is just dead simple:

1. Cut oil line near fuel pump - plug tightly with a bolt and clamp
2. disconnect wires that come out of the pump (3 or 4 wire plug)
3. disconnect wires that come from the oil tank - two wire cable that runs from the tank into the engine compartment
4. remove oil tank.

But if your low and no oil alarms are working OK (easy to test) and the system is using oil at the proper rate, it's working.

Gas should not be in the oil tank, pump has bad check valve.
