I have a 75hp YAMAHA and recently screwed up my prop. I have another prop that fits fine but the pitch is a little big.

So my question is: Is it alright to have the prop filed down by a pro or just buy a new prop.
My new prop is Stainless Steel. Forgot the brand.

Thanks

Pitch can be changed within certain limits. Not by filing, though.

SS props are not as workable as aluminum.

If your SS is designed for it, you may have other ways to go (X-dimension) that are free and may even help performance.

State your boat specs and prop dimensions along with rpm at wot and the Gurus here will tell you..

Only a prop shop can answer your question. You must deal with them directly and not through a marine dealer or mechanic. If they say it is repairable ask about their warranty.
