Re: Ficht Fogging-puzzled
Not to spark a debate here, but I don't feel many techs or repair shops would start disconnecting clamped fuel lines to feed a soup-mix to bigger hp engine. Nor for that matter is the average owner - it's just not practical.

Could it stick the injectors? Yes, I suppose anything is possible. Is it likely to? Probably not. Merc had some injector pintels sticking due to winterizing/fogging oil, but their direct injector is different than a Ficht injector.

My vote is to mix the appropriate amount of fuel stabilizer, 2+4 or what not in the fuel tank and run the engine for 10 to 15 minutes - this ensures stabilized fuel has entered the entire fuel system. Then spray fogging oil thru the throttle plates just like you normally would on a carbureted engine. Watch out though, the Fichts rpm's like to run-away when you spray anything into the throttle bodies. I suggest running the engine in a tank of water and tie a string to the stop lanyard, running it to the back of the boat where you're working. So if it does "take-off" all you need to do is reach down, grab the string and yank to shut the motor off.

Don't forget the gear lube, grease fittings, etc.

-John
