I have a bad EMM. Years ago when I bought the engine used I bought several spare parts one of which was a used EMM. The stock one on my 2000 /200HP is # 586484 The spare I have is 2002/ 225 # 586724 I tried to use the newer one to replace my bad one and I think it would work however because they changed the oil pressure switch configuration [ switch used to be on the lift pump it got moved to the injector see pics ] it is throwing a no oil code even though I am certain ALL oil components are fine. With the 2002 EMM with the engine OFF it says good oil pressureI as soon as it starts it say no oil pressure,,, this is backwards. It's as though the pressure switch is nomally open then closed and it's expecting the opposite?? I saved my original 'doner' EMM then conencted the new EMM and uploaded all the injector data. HOWEVER it seems it only did the injector data not the firmware?? So my question is can I use my EV diagnostic software to change the MAP / firmware to 2000/ 200 like I have to make it work with the 2000 oil pressure set up with my Joe Blow EV diag software or is this a dealer only thing? I can't simply try this at the moment the boat is not at my location and before I spend a lot of hard earned cash on getting my 2000 EMM rebuilt I'd sure like to know if I could make this 2002 version work on my 2000. Any advice greatly appreciated.
