Fiberglass Gas Tank in a '85 Chaparral

I have found an '85 Caparral 235 XLC that I am interested in, but it has a HUGE question mark hanging over it.

It has a fiberglass gas tank beneath the floor, so it is not an easy replacement. What I need to know before making an offer is whether or not this tank is going to be ethanol stable. Or will the resins start to break down and leave me with a gas leak in the bilge?

Thanks,
John

I also posted this in the Chaparral forum, but I am koping to find some one here that know fiberglass tanks in general.

You might post this question over on the I/O forum. That problem has surfaced frequently over there and I commend you for recognizing it as an issue. If the tank is indeed fiberglass it probably will be a problem if it isn't already. If its plastic, it is not a problem.

Thanks Silvertip,

My current boat has a poly tank, so I am familiar with those, this one is without a doubt fiberglass. I have taken you advise and posted this in the I/O forum as well. Hopefully somebody will know what kind of resins Chaparral was using in 1985.
