I recently had to retake the boaters certification course as I could not find my proof of completion from back in 2002. I passed it and currently hold the voucher until I receive the certificate in the mail to take it to get my DL updated.

Is the voucher sufficient proof in the state of Alabama until I receive certificate and have my license updated? Want to hit the waters this weekend. Voucher has my information on it and states I passed.

My suggestion would be to give the local sheriff (or here in TN it would be TWRA) a call and ask them. My experience here with TWRA is that they will take certificates with no problem - but your local office should have a better answer for you.

Thought I'd post an update. In the state of Alabama...the voucher is NOT to be used in replacement. You must wait for your online certificate to take to the DMV to update your license which as of Feb 2015 is now $36.25.
