I've posted a message "WARNING LIGHT" regarding this same subject and received some help...just looking for more!

I have a 1986 115 Yammie (oil injected), in which a red indicator light and alarm came on. (an empty circle is in the light) The buzzer is still present when I turn the ignition on. Although it hasn't been run in a couple days.

1. there is plenty of oil in the reservoir and holding tank on the engine itself
2. there is a good steady stream of water from the p-hole, so I don't htink it has overheated

what else can I look for to resolve this in time for the upcoming 4th weekend?

thanks in advance for any help!!

Re: FELLAS...what to look for?

I dont know much about Yamahas but mercurys can have problems with the sender in the oil tank.Which cause an alarm to sound with no apparent cause. On mercs if the engine is using oil, waterpump working , no signs off overheating & the alarm is going off I disconnect the sender unit from the oil tank if the alarm stops it is afaulty sender the solution on a merc is a new oil tank but it may be different on a Yamaha.Hope this helps :)

Thanks Shark. however the engine doesn't run too well over 2000 rpm's. So I would imagine this alarm is limiting the rpm's range cause of the alleged problem
