We have a 24ft pontoon. A 1998 Grumman FS 24. There are two 5-6 foot bench seats that run parallel to the toons and wife thinks it would be better to remove them and just use lawn chairs or some other removable/portable seats. I have seen quite a few toons doing this but never gotten the chance to ask how they like doing it that way. I'm not against it but before doing it like to hear from those that have done it and if it worked out for more room , move-ablity and how rough waters effected them..
She also wants to remove the little table back by the console and get like a fold up camping table. Thoughts on that.
Thanks

I removed the front and rear fishing seats from my current toon which leaves plenty of room for movable chairs. We use the PVC lawn chairs with smooth bottoms that don't tear the carpet. Everyone says they are more comfortable than the benches. I'm thinking of removing the remaining bench but it does offer a lot of storage.

Been doing that on my last 3 boats (30+ years). We take care of them when new, but when they start to get ratty they're gone. We maintain only one across the back for storage and to help quiet engine noise, the captains chair, and the console.

We found the Adirondack style chairs to work best. Low center of gravity keeps you upright in rough water, plus they aren't as affected by wind when empty. The fact they stack doesn't hurt anything as well.

Thanks Guys for the feedback.
Guess we (meaning the wife) have decided to remove the front ones for now. And the table.
I looked at removing the front seats and saw only two screws but man they are rusted out to the max. So think I will have to drill them to get them out. Kinda hope there aren't more cuz of the rusting.
Thanks

I removed mine and use the folding camping chairs and a small table when fishing.
