Hi All
My very good friend just bought a new jetski. It's a 1987 or 88 Kawaski 300. He weighs 320 pounds. It won't pull him out of the hole. Ski winds out all the way but the *** end just sits down low in the water.......it won't break over on plane. The same ski will pull me out of the hole and on plane...I weigh 220.
Any suggestions?

Buy his ski so he can buy a bigger one. Maybe some performance upgrades if it's running right now. What is the top speed with you on it? Have it serviced and checked out, but that is alot of weight for a little ski like that.

Tell him to get another matching ski for the other foot :D
Otherwise he needs a 3 seater.

A two seater should do the trick. I think mines a two seater(or a small three seater) and it will push me(240lbs) and my girlfriend(115lbs) pretty good. It's a kawi 750.

Guys, the 300 was a single cylinder stand up. It was very underpowered even for a stand up. If he wants to stay with a stand up I would suggest a 550 since he is a big guy. They are all over the place and pretty cheap.

a 300 is a single cylinder ski. Your buddy needs to get real and go buy a bigger ski. a 550 woudl be still too snmall. he needs a 650 or at least a 750.
Those sea doo 3D are pretty cheap. a dealer in my area is selling them for 3500$ brand new.
Your buddy really needs a bigger ski. If he doenst like sit downs he need a bigger motor stand up

If it's a 750 STS, or STX then it's a 3 seater,,, I had a 96' 750SSxi 2 seater sport/trick model Kawi that would just about hold me at 260lbs, in fact it was not even stable standing still, I had to get on, and take off right away.

I now have a 96' Yamaha Waveventure 1100 3 seater, that finally my wife, & I, can ride on together comfortably.

He want's a stand up.
I'm totally new to the whole PWC thing. I had a blast fooling around on his little 300. I'm going to have to get one for sure.
My buddy wants a stand up. He says he wants to do tricks...like the submarine.
I've been watching clips of stand up tricks on youtube and he's gonna need some more fricking power for sure....I'm thinkin anything smaller than a 750 is going to be a joke.

he's 320lbs, doing trick is going to be hard on any ski. Nomatter which stand up he gets it's going to physically feel small to him.

I liked my 96' 750 Kawi SSXi 2 seater, (Xi model means dual carbs) it was a good, fast, little trick ski, I could get it to submerge some, good for one heavy person or 2 light people (less then 150lbs each) generally.

All he needs to do is sit on the damn thing. it will sink on its own. Sorry couldnt help it. What he needs is a ski with enough power to get him up. Those #ds are bigger and you can still do tricks.
Also if he plans on doing tricks he NEEDS to set the ski up for that. if you do tricks on a stock ski you will quickly suck water in and drown it. those skis you see people doign trucks on are modified in order to do that.
i did a submarine on my Raider 1100 and in about 7-10 seconds ( and i was only on the throttle for maybe 5 of that the ski was pretty full of water inside. i got lucky and didnt suck water in. after that I took it easy on subbing the ski. And yes you can sub a sit down. jsut gotta know how.
