just purchased a boat with a 1996 150 faststrike on it..the key was broke off in the ignition switch, the prior owner had a peice he stuck in it to start.. it was a problem for me in the dark so replaced it..the local dealer sold me a omc switch but the connectors also had to be changed 95 & prior switch i found out after the fact...installed started up just fine...however since then have had a problem with it not wanting to start after it had been run for a while--crank but no spark after a while aprox.1 hr. it will start back up just fine and run great...then not..i think the old switch should have had a kill key but didnt..the new switch does not use a kill key..could this be the start problem any info would be helpful no one seems to know that i have talked with

Re: faststrike key switch

I would treat it as an unrelated problem and find out why the spark fails.
I would suspect the powerpack overheating , put an infra red thermometer on the heads and record the running temps.

Re: faststrike key switch

is the powerpack the only part that would cut power to all plugs
