Specs: 14 1/2 X 24P Raker
18' javelin 1700 loaded up
'95 Fast Strike 150
maxing 4800RPM @ 51-52 mph

Shouldn't this motor be running a little hotter? The motor seems to be running smooth, no misses or odd sounds from the motor. Hole shot is great and quick. Is this right or should I look into something. I think the prop is the factor setup...

thats a lot of pitch.... that motor wants to runs at 5800 rpms!!! you are crusing though!!! I bet if you dropped the pitch and to a 20 you get to the mid 5's and even pick up some speed....

you dont want to set up WOT where you are now!!

is the prop SS or aluminum?

Its a SS polished prop. Yeah I thought Iwas missing about 1000rpm? Are you sure dropping pitch will add speed. This is the stock prop for this motor

well it did for me..... if you just stayed at the same rpms you would go slower.....usually your rpms go up and you loose some speed....

but for some reason the extra rpm let me end up going a little faster

I thought your speed was good...maybe that big motor should be pushing you even faster on that little boat....maybe you should make sure of the setting on your tach....I dont know what the setting is for a V6.....

I have the factory manual for the 95 60 degree loopers, and i cant find it anywhere in the book

Make sure your tach is accurate before doing any prop changing. You tach should be on 6 p .

Its idling at 850 or so after the quick start timing advance kicks off. I think that the tach is accurate. I was having the SLOW propblem and it was showing that the RPMs were bouncing just passed the 2500 mark which is right. The motor is trimmed correctly, to amend the original post.

I would go with a 19 p prop. that should put you in the high 5K RPMs which is where I would prop for. Its is best to borrow and try a few before buying one that you cannot return. I would shoot for 5800 RPMs at WOT unloaded.
