Fast idle lever

Lost keys to my boat ended up putting in new switch. Motor is a 90 Mercury with Mercury control switch works fine but now the fast idle lever seems to have no effect on idle speed. What did I do wrong?

What year motor? Maybe you have too much throttle cable preload? Maybe you assembled control box incorrectly?

You didnt get some thing back together in the controller.

Take it apart again make sure the throttle is in the N position and warm up lever is in the full disengaged position, probably missed the throttle roller and cam. Might want to inspect the roller and cam at the carburetor make sure they are not engaged as well. Grease the rollers and cam is not already done so.
