Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone out there can help confirm what I am looking at. It is the first year I have had to winterize this engine. Please see the attached photo of my 1980 Mercury 115 Inline 6.

Question #1: For winterization, do I simply spray fogging oil through the plastic cover of each one? Or do I need to be removing something. If using a spray can how long should I spray?

Question #2: This is the fuel filter, right? Should I replace now or at the start of the season.

Question #3: Is this an inline fuel filter? Should I replace now or at the end of the season?

Appreciate your feedback and support.

Many thanks,

Hope this helps with your questions:
1)Yes, just spray thru cover.
2) now
3)now

This is how I do my customers engines:
1) Add fuel stablizer(I use CRC brand) for ethanol blended fuels to fuel tank
2) Replace fuel diaphram and filters
3) Start engine and run at minimum 10 minutes
4) While engine is running to circulate stablizer thru fuel system, spray 1/2 can of Power tune thru carb to help decarbon engine
5) After engine settles down from decarbon, disconnect fuel line and spray fogging oil into each carb till engine stumbles then go to next carb ,do this till engine runs out of fuel
6) Remove spark plugs and spray each cylinder for a couple of seconds, reinstall plugs, pull kill cord and crank engine a few seconds to coat the cylinder walls good.
7) Disconnect battery and take inside to warm area
8) Change lower unit oil or check it to see if it has water intrusion, remove prop and inspect propshaft seals for fishing line/debris. Coat splines with good grease and reinstall
