Re: Fall Walleye tips

Well, I am by no means the best walleye fisherman so take it for what it's worth. 90% of my walleye's come either trolling or drifting, I prefer drifting. Just remember, keep your a*s to the wind. I normally drift with Lindy rigs tipped with either leeches or minnows. I've always found that the battle lies in finding ACTIVE schools of fish. Most of mine are found in 10'-20' of water, normally mixed in with the perch. The perch will gently tap your bait, but don't set the hook, let the walleye slam it and most of the time they hook themselves. If casting for them, find shallow water that edges deep water and throw crank baits. Never fished Erie though, but hear that they are abundant. There is a walleye website dedicated to the fish in which alot of pro's give tips and techniques. web page

I've always had best success while drifting using bottom bouncers and night crawler harnesses.

All this talk about Ol' marble eye's, I've decided to have a walleye fish fry by my place tonight. Most of my fishing buddies will be there. All are welcome just bring your own beer. ;)

Early on this Summer Hot N Totes and Michigan Stingers were the lure of choice. Slayed em just East of Sisters. Not sure about this time of year but like 495 says Crawlers most of the time are sure picks for OMEs. Its Musky time now for me. Ol Gators Eyes is beckoning me .....Good Luck.
