My son, who lives in Hudson, Ohio, sent me this today:

I took the boat out today to a local lake (Berlin Reservoir)for one of the last forays of the year. We went for walleyes and got skunked (I think there is a trick to that kind of fishing that I have yet to master), but had an interesting day regardless. It was 60 degrees, sunny and beautiful....all the fall foliage is now at its peak. My boat ran like a gem on mild chop, and I pushed 40 mph heading down the channel with almost no one else on the lake. What a thrill, I don't think I have ever felt the boat run this good, but it has always ran pretty well. My trolling motor was working perfect as well. Who cares about the fish, my machinery was working right!

I also got to "rescue" a coupe of boaters today. The first gut spun his prop hitting a sand bar under speed (I towed him back to the dock), and the next guy launched a pretty heavy glass boat without his drain plug, and then couldn't find it! To make matters worse, he couldn't get his boat started once in the water. He was about 2 feet low when I loaned him my backup plug, and he was able to run his bilge pump, and eventually got started and back to the dock. He was so flustered that he trailered the boat again and took it home without even running it! These were both veteran boaters as well! This all made me feel a little better about my capabilities!

Fish would have been nice, but I built up some good karma points instead.
