Some days I have these hmmmmm days..Today is one of them.<br /><br />Many of us here have fish finders here...Ever notice that the same group of fins that crosses the screen never changes..Some may be up,some down, some big, some small and there are always fish showing..But for some reason they don't take a likn to your bait..<br /><br />My theory is, that they aren't really there. These companies put fish chips (not the eatn kind)in the program. Those really aren't fish but Images that they have invented.<br /><br />How do I know ya say. After all day of fishn with my finder I heard a beep and a message showed up that said to rewind please press start..You know I don't lie here cause I am a fisherman..<br /><br />Next time look at your scope and see if the same fish is always crossing the screem.. I figure ever fifteen minutes they do a replay to keep my interest..<br /><br />And how is your day going>>>>you can tell mine....

Re: Fake finders

That fish only showe up on your eagle. Not the hummingbird. Both my eagles show that fish you mentioned but I have never seen the rewind prompt. Maybe I havent used them enough for them to be rewound.

Re: Fake finders

I don't know about you guys but it must be funny to someone ...<br /><br />I was on a lake that I knew like the back of my hand.. <br /><br />got out to roughly where I wanted to start and hit the power button then menu tab ..<br /><br />as I was foolin' with a rod while slowly scooting .. I was at the same time adjusting (so I thought) my display features on my graph...<br /><br />more anxious than conscious .. I left my graph to set rods ...<br /><br />after I return to me seat I look at the graph and it's reading 42' with AWESOME bottom contours and fish EVERYWHERE!!! Boy was I pumped!! I went on and on in my head about how I'm "On 'em" and how much fun this is going to be ... man I'm going to limit out in no time! ..on and on I went..<br /><br />..then I thought to myself ...<br /><br />"Self: this lake is only 23' at its deepest part!! " ...<br /><br />upon further examination of my graph ...<br /><br />I found that I keyed in the SIMULATOR!...<br /><br />....DOH!!!!!!..<br />

gonfishn,<br />You need to take your unit out of "simulator mode". (Sorry, couldn't help myself). <br />Seriously, take your unit off automatic and just use pure sonar where it shows arches. This way you are interpreting what you see on screen and not letting the unit decide.<br />JD

Re: Fake finders

I have a hummingbird and two of fishing buddies both have eagles. We can have all three boats sitting over the same hole and they will both be showing lots of fish even if I am not showing any. I just use mine to show bottom structure and depth so I am not to concerned about it.

Re: Fake finders

My friends Hummingbird doesn't show fish when in the same hole as we are sitting while my eagle shows them all over. We both catch like crazy. He is ditching the Hummer and getting an Eagle (fake fish or not is better than no fish all the time) ;)

Re: Fake finders

When I first started using my finder I was amazed that there was a line of fish that seem to be at the same depth as my downrigger weight. After my brain stopped hurting I realized that it WAS my downrigger ball that the fishfinder was showing. I can't say that my Humminbird Matrix 27 is the greatest thing on earth, but I can say that wherever it has shown fish, I have had hits of have caught a few. Its more of a bait selection thing than anything else for me that determines if any fish will be getting in the boat that day....
