Just picked up a 2005 Mercury 9.9 4 stroke to replace my Nissan 9.9 2 stroke. It's been a great motor, but for trolling I think I'll be much happier with the 4 stroke.

Anyway, I have a few people already interested in my Nissan and needed to get some opinions on setting a fair price. It's a 1990-1994 model NS9.9B2 long shaft, I have bumped it up to 15hp using the cam replacement bought from Internet Outboards. This Nissan is a long shaft, with electric start. Also includes the control box, cables and dash mount starting plate and wiring harness. (Also can be used as a tiller.) This motor has seen very light usage, I'd estimate 300 +/- hours total. Motor is in good shape with some minor scuffs and scrapes and usually fires right up on the 2nd or 3rd try with a little choke.

I'm guessing somewhere in the $600-$750 range???

Call it an NS9.9B2EP2 and it should bring anywhere from $700.00 to $900.00 depending on condition.

You might also try the Nada Guides (www.nadaguides.com). Follow the link to the "Boats" section and you'll find price guides for outboards as well. Use the model number the guru gave you. At least it gives you a starting point.

At the end of the day, its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Good luck.:)

LOL, well I'd buy as many of my motors as I could if I could find them for what NADA currently lists them for...$160-$180. In my experience NADA is not very realistic when looking up used boat motor prices.

Believe me I know that, just wanted to find out a reasonable place to start.

Thank you Elvin, I felt I was pretty close with my initial guess.
