I'm sure that this question has been posted a thousand times before (couldn't find anything in archives). I have just gotten an older boat (72 model Marquis) and the hull is faded (not chaulky just "dull". What is the best way to clean this??? Do I need to use rubbing compound or something else? I used nu-finish car POLISH (not wax) and it helped some but not much.

Re: Faded hull

You can get the shine back with rubbing compound and a buffer, Seaboo, but probably not the color. Especially if it is red.

Good luck.

Red (no-fade) sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: Faded hull

I noticed that when the paint is wet the color returns so next spring I'm going to try a coat of clear coat on the enamel. If it holds up great, if not then its repainting time.
