I have a 2001 f50 on a 24’ Weeres. Recently i was out and ran into bad weather. Had some stuff fly off the boat and moved the throttle from about half speed to reverse rather quickly. I did pause for about 3 seconds in neutral before going to reverse. About 3 minutes later i could feel a little loss of power. Then about 5-10 minutes after that it died just as i was pulling up to the dock. I managed to get it running again later on. It’s a little harder to start now but i can get it running. However the second i put it into gear there are 3 or 4 LOUD clunks then it dies. The waves were also high and my plastic gas tank had lots of water splashing on top of it. I checked the gas tank after with colorcut to see if water got in but the paste didn’t turn red. Does this sound like a lower end issue or a water in fuel issue? I just had the thing re ringed last fall. I attached a video of the noise it makes going into gear

Well----Check the gear oil for bits of metal.-------Here I would not hesitate to take lower unit apart.-----There may be other opinions.
