I have a 2004 F115Y on my Parker 1801. I've owned it for about a year and a half. Last year everything ran perfectly. I just dewinterized it. It started right up. I ran it for a while to burn off fogging oil then changed the Racor, fuel filter on the engine (in little plastic cup), and the plugs. Took it out for a shakedown cruise over the weekend. Ran about 5 miles in a chop at about 3800 RPM and everything seemed great. Got into some flat water and decided to open it up. It got up to 4500 RPM but when I advanced the throttle further it wouldn't go any higher. It was still running smooth but just wouldn't rev any higher. When throttled all the way up it seemed like it would bounce between 4300 and 4600 RPM but wasn't running at all rough. I slowed down, tried again, and same thing. Ran most of the way back in, got to some calmer water and tried again. Same exact thing.
I'm thinking its the fuel pump. I'm not sure the last time it was serviced. Also, I noticed some corrosion on the outside of the fuel pump. Can anyone give me any advice? If its something simple I'll tackle it myself but if a repair will involve a lot of diagnostic tests or trial and error I might just take it in. I'm itching to go fishing and don't want to spend too long on this. Thanks.
