extending my trailer?

i have a 14 foot jon boat on a 12 foot trailer. the trailer used to be 15 feet long, but prior owner shortend it for whatever reasons. now my jon boat hangs off the back about 3 feet and i have to take off my motor and lay it in the middle of the boat since there is no support under the back of the boat. here is my question:<br />can i have a welding or trailer repair shop weld me and extra 3 or 4 feet of 3x3 tubing onto the front of the trailer? will the welds hold the weight and strees of roar wear? boat and motor and gear only weighs about 400 pounds loaded. any ideas?<br />anybody in tampa/st.pete florida that can weld it for me?<br />phatmanmike@yahoo.com

That should be extremely easy for a welder to do. You should not have any problems with an extension the size you are talking about.
