What do you people think of extended warrenties? Iam about to purchase a new 50hp 2stroke mercury and i can extend the warrenty to 3 years for 300.00 or 5 years for 600.00. Would you or save the money?
Howdy Markshop. Extended warranties or service contracts are like car insurance. If you never use them they seem like a waste of money. If you have a castatrophic need they sem like the best investment you ever made.<br /><br />If you have the financial resources to cover a big repair without too much pain, then you don't need an extended warranty.<br /><br />If a major failure would put you ashore indefinitely while you try to save enough to fix it, you need the extended warranty.<br /><br />Hope that helps.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB
This would be an extended warranty from mercury. Then if i understand you guys correctly you expect that i should not have any problems with this motor for at least 3to5 years? Iam new to mercury outboards and dont know if i should expect problems or not. Lets put it ths way do you think its a waste of money on this motor?
