Trying to see if anyone has any experience with installing a "Tiny Tach"? I installed one on my 3 cyl 25HP just fine and at idle it gives me a pretty consistent reading. Issue I am having is at WOT. I'm pretty sure I am getting interference from my #2 or #3 plug wires because my reading jumps all over the place. I have tried relocating the coil for the Tiny Tach at several different positions on my #1 wire but with the cowling on, everything gets "all cozy" in there. I'm hesitant about zip tying the plug wires because the only place to do that would be to the coil(s).

Try wrapping with electric tape all the red pick up cable portion once tight wrapped onto plug cable to avoid electrical interference...Check if this works..

Just to make sure I am reading that right... Wrap the lead around my #1 wire and then wrap the COILED part of the lead in electrical tape?

I have one on my 2 cylinder 30 hp. I wrapped both plug wires together and secured it with a twist tie.
Space wasn't a issue. Maybe post a few pics.

FYI: if you click around online, there is an induction tach w/ temperature out there, the leads are to short but can be lengthened . attached temp sensor under bolt on water jacket, works great and can change battery also
