I have a 1984 25' Kencraft with a 1994 TAMD 41 Volvo Diesel. The boat was used for shrimping & the owner converted the exhaust to a dry stack. I would like to convert it back to a wet exhaust. My situation is this: The exhaust elbow on the engine is about 1 foot above the water line. The floor deck is right at the water line with about 10" between the hull & the underside of the floor. It looks like the muffler will be below the water-line. Is this a common situation? What should I do to prevent water from getting inside the engine from following seas? There is not enough room for a lift muffler
in the bilge area.
Thanks,
Gene

Re: Exhaust

Volvo does make a riser for the 41's, check with your dealer for the PN for your model.

Re: Exhaust

I have found the part (riser). The bottom of the flange that bolts to the turbo is only 8" above water level. Even with the riser, I will only have 12" above the water line. In this case, the muffler & exhaust line will be 10" below the water line(always full of water). Will this create back pressure problems? Will the flappers on the exhaust line prevent the ingestion of water? Finally, are there any books that outline exhaust system layout?
Thanks,
Gene
