Exhaust water?

Was adjusting the shift linkage a couple days ago and noticed that when it was hooked up to the muffs with the engine running NO water was coming out of the exhaust?? Should some water be coming out immediately even before the thermostat opens? Ive used the boat in the lake since then and the temperature gauge slowly comes up to normal with no obvious overheating issues! 4.3 with cobra outdrive.

You do have the hose turned up all the way, correct?

Yes the hose was opened all the way, water spewing on the floor from the muffs.

Yes you should see water right away. Maybe time for a new impeller or you have a blockage.
