Exhaust smells like paint thinner

Any idea why my exhaust smells like thinner...I changed lifters...pushrods...and all gaskets.

Could this be some pretty old fuel?

No it's fresh fuel....I'm guessing the assembly lube from lifters...but I dunno

I bought some freshly delivered to the retailer 91 octane gasoline the other day and while filling my 5 gallon cans, the fumes just plain stunk. Never smelled gas that smelled like that.

I have bought fuel from the local gas station that was bad and already turned to varnish. Fuel has only so many weeks between refining and burning prior to it going bad.

I've only about 1/4 tank left so I'll fill it.up and see if it goes away. Also a different gas station

What do the spark plugs look like - could you just be running rich? does it sear your eyes?

Ya I believe it's running rich for sure

Then start looking at carb issues , is choke fully opening, fuel pressure adjust needle and seat
