I had the lower off my 225 ocean runner.I may have not got the exhaust boot on rite.Should any exhaust exit the slots on the lower above the cavitation plate.I'm not sure if it did before.Really dont want to drop the lower again if I don't need to.I also had some prior posts about the motor she sounds great now.As soon as this little issue is done shes going for a shakedown

Re: exhaust question

No, pull the lower off again and check it.

Re: exhaust question

If the lower/bottom gearcase exhaust seal is missing, or distorted during re-assembly of the lower unit, the exhaust can leak. An exhaust leak is right by the water pump housing. If the housing is a composite type, the heat from the exhaust can distort it over time, causing pump problems, even distress to the impeller. Sometimes those gaskets tend to expand with age-when re-used they may not fit properly. You may want to purchase a new one.

You won't know until you take it apart.

Re: exhaust question

I just dropped and checked. The gaskets were in place.I ordered both new.the upper seemed loose. This time it seemed like only a little steam when runnin on the muffs.I'm going to splash her tomorrow and will inspect in the water, not on muffs. One other thing when cold started on muffs it stays at fast idle (cold start) a little longer is this normal.I just did a cdi pp and stator.BTW it was 50 degrees outside today if that matters to how it reacted

Re: exhaust question

Yes, it's normal. The QS will cut back when the motor gets warmer.
