i have a 224 cid 165 hp mercruiser with an alpha 1 outdrive? i have exhaust coming out of the transom plate and very little out of the prop. at all rpm. i was told that the exhaust exits thru the transom at idle and low rpm then out thru the prop at high rpm. told this was because of a flapper in ehxaust tube. they said it probably came apart and lodged farther down the line. flapper was to prevent back flush of water. i was then told it wasn't a big deal to be like that. my thinking is if they put it on at new it should be there now.
