exhaust port relief hole or not

I have a 1976 40hp evinrude model 40655a not started in over ten years put new water pump kit in. pumping water out exhaust hole believe that is where it should, but have very small amount coming out starboard side lower left corner of exhaust housing is this a relief port or gasket problem

Are you saying at the seam between the exhaust housing and lower unit gearcase? If so, not a problem except to give you something to worry about. So don't worry.
