Hi i got a

2005 Johnson J30TEL4SOC 30 hp Outboard Motor 4 stroke.

Noticed a mud dobber going into it. So there must me nest in there . I cleaned it out little
about a year ago. Well i did notice lately a loss of power not sure what could be. Then like a week i noticed a mud dobber flying into my exhaust port on the engine. Well stuck a wire in there and keep pulling out dirt when i pulled the wire out that i stuck in there. Keep doing that till there was not more dirt coming out. But i think there a lot dirt i got out of there and maybe that clogged up the exhaust and was the reason the last couple of times seemed to be less power.
Well i took my air hose and blew through both my exhaust and my water outlet. They do not seem to be clogged. I try my boat out later today. But do you think that could of caused my engine to run slower and caused my boat to go slower. I hope it gives my boat some more speed. Is there anything else i should do are any suggestions that i should do regarding this mud dobber.

If it is that common ? I would put duct tape over all engine openings that wasps can get into and build nests. Dirt can do a real rubbing job on cylinder walls. You could do a simple compression check if the damage is too great.

Not to worry, fire it up the cooling water and exhaust will wash it out.
