exhaust noise on aq 125 a

I'm getting an exhaust noise comming from the bellow that connects the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe. I'm thinking that maybe theres a restriction on the flow of water going into the exhaust manifold, the copper pipe that connects the heat exchanger to the exhaust manifold has been soldered a couple of times and there is a slight kink in it, and when i take the lid of the water strainer with the engine running and at idle, water spills out. the engine tempature stays at 185 deg so thats not a problem. my question is, should water spill out of the strainer with the engine at idle ?<br />this is a volvo aq 125 a....thanks

I would pull the exhaust manifold and check the exhaust ports on the head. #4 has a tendancy of corroding away. At that point, the exhaust manifold gasket won't seal and you have a leak. It has nothing to do with the water side, it's the exhaust that is leaking.<br />And YES, when you pull the strainer cap off water will flow out. It's on the pressure side of the raw water pump.

i've installed a new exhaust manifold and when i had everything off i couldnt see any wear at all.<br />is it possible don that i'm not getting enough water passing through the exhaust manifold ?<br />anyway of me finding that out ?

also don i should mention that it's an aftermaket manifold that i installed, i think its a sierra.

If you are burning a hole in the exhaust hose and causing the exhaust leak, then you are not getting enough water flow to keep the hose from burning.<br />When was the last time the impeller was changed or the raw water pump inspected for wear?

new impeller, and raw water pump looks fine.<br />like i was saying there is just the sound of an exhaust leak near the bellow, but i dont see any leaks at all. I've installed a new bellow and new manifold. i've only had the boat a few months, and it has been making that sound for the whole time.
