Exhaust manifolds no gasket, 351 ford 1973 should I put on some

Howdy, My exhaust manifolds failed on a 1973 v8 351 ford, Vovlo 280 outdrive, set up with the log style, exhaust manifolds.

To my surprise there was not exhaust gaskets on the head to exhaust manifold.

There is no evidence of leakage burning exhuast wise.

Question: Is this normal? not in my mind. I never seen this although I have only done a few manifold replacement.

Question: Should I purchase gaskets and put them on the new log manifolds I just purchase?

I would think so.

most all manufactures are not puting them in for the past few years, not sure why. i put them in when there is none just cause i think they need to be there. It aint no Rolls Royce.

the factory did not install gaskets on manifold from the factory...

both surfaces were milled completely flat and the gaskets werent necessary...

you will not have that today so I would use the gaskets...
