Exhaust leak

Along with the other problems my 1970 evinrude 115 has I have discovered I do have an exhuast leak into the cowl. When I decarbed the engine last night I found alot of smoke comming up through the seal to the exhaust housing. Should I see if bolts are just loose or do I tear her completely apart and change seal... It didn't seam to be a really bad leak to me.. but no leak is a good one.<br /><br />Also it seems to me that engine has not been to well taken care of. Does it sound like this thing is going to be a money pit with things constantly going wrong or if I get her right and treat her right she will last me many more good years.

Your leak, more than likely is coming from around the seal on the electric shift cable seal.
