Exhaust coming out thru propeller?????

Hi everyone, wondering if someone could help me out, i have a 1975 50hp mercury thunderbolt 2 stroke 4cyl outboard that i bought, having trouble keeping it idling. I noticed when it does run , the exhaust is coming out thru the proppeller and not the exhaust ports at all. Does this mean i blew a seal or have a bad seal in my leg??? Help please!!!

The exhaust port is there to prevent excess back pressure while idling, if zero exhaust and/or water is coming out while the motor is at idle in the water then the passage way may be plugged.
