Hey there! My exhaust bellows has separated from the gimbal on my Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive. It's still connected at the transom shield. I really don't want to take my out drive leg off to reconnect it if I don't have to. do you think I can just pull off the rear clamp and run it like a tube, or maybe cut it back a bit so the cut end just touches the nipple in the gimbal housing? Any help is appreciated.

You best be joking. The drive bellows must be sealed completely, it can't be run open like an exhaust tube.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the orignial poster said it was the exhaust bellows, not the drive bellows. You don't really need the exhaust bellows at all. I would pull the whole thing off and install an exhaust boot. You don't need to remove the drive or anythign to install it. Should just be one clamp that you can access through a hole in the transom assembly.

Sorry, I had two threads up and I confused the drive bellows and this one, lol. On the exhaust bellows who cares.

I know the Mercruiser Bravo 1's can use either the "exhaust bellows (connected on both ends)" or the "exhaust tube (connected only on the transom end)". Alpha's should be no different. The use of either is an owner's option and only difference is the tube is a little louder. Lots of the kits come with both so you can decide at installation time which you want to use.

I did that for mine, got a bell and had it over with.
