Re: exhaust bellow problem

Thinking the leak should not be an issue since those bellows have drain holes, if memory serves, but the bellows kit (part number 876631) is only around $50 and as you probably already know, is very easy to replace.

If you don't want to spend money on the kit and don't want a leak, buy a rubber bicycle inner tube and some rubber cement to patch the split. It'd be best to do it with the bellows off the drive. Might hold for a season or too.

That said, you need to take a really good look at the U joint bellows. When those fail, the boat tends to sink.

i was told by the boat shop , i have to take exhaust manifold off to get to bellow , Why cant i just take rubber bellow and loosen hose clamps just to get to the bellow . It seems really simple , I was told a harder way

I was referring to the belows on the drive in my reply above. The manifold is easy to remove so don't let that worry you.

Re: exhaust bellow problem

thanks mischief , I have no leak now but will have to replace it later , .The leak was caused by the hose clamp, I just try to save money where i can . But with boats it is not always a option, The split was on the outer edge of the bellow the bellow was still usable In my opinion , When it gets to bad i am a firm believer in doing it right . And bondo it is a penny wise , but i have a lotta pounds to be foolish :p
