Excess water coming from drain hole?

Did water pump repair kits on my main and kicker today. Yamaha 70TLR and F8. After doing the 70 I fired it up and telltale ran great, but I noticed a pretty serious stream coming out of the drain hole in the front. After doing the 8, not as much but water coming out of the hole where the gear shift shaft runs through the midsection into the lower. I'm not very experienced with these outboards... is this normal or am I missing something with my install? Both motors ran great before. Thanks!

Did the 70 peed same as mentioned before the water pump was rebuilt ? As long the water pump grommet has matched well the vertical water tube and the motor cools properly when running on water not an issue. Seems the old water pump was loosing pressure which the new one increased. Out of curiosity, with motor ON pees same as when OFF while on muffs ?

Thank you for the reply. It seems like it pees very slightly better with the replacement. For all I know it was doing the drain hole thing before and I just didn't notice. My dad actually noticed this time - normally I can't see that part of the motor from in the boat but he was standing behind. I was surprised that the impeller didn't look bad at all. It's a 2007 and the paint on the bolts to drop the lower unit were unscathed which I took to mean this was its first impeller job (!). Maybe the motor just hasn't been run much. The motor does not pee until on. My understanding was that is a good thing, meaning the tube is properly seated. Where does the water coming out of the drain hole come from? Does water come up around the drive shaft? Thanks!

That orifice It's just a midsection water drainage, the quantity expelled will depend on how much water pressure comes out the hose to the muffs intakes. There's also drainages under the bottom crankcase which expells water downward through the midsection exhaust muffler and drive shaft section as well which will be seen exiting through the middle prop. Nothing to worry about...
