i will post here because the engine is what i am most excited about. went and drove 554 miles fri to pick up my new weldbilt 1648 mv w a 30 hp tohatsu efi.i custom ordered the boat with 100 ga and a 20 in transom. split rear seats w/ storage and a 64 in front deck w storage. the motor amazes me, it is huge. no choke just push the button. i carpeted and rigged it out over the weekend and should be on the water sat, i have 5 days off. i hope to finsh the break ini wiull take any and all advice. the motor has an extended trim switch, i have never run a tiller with trim, again i will take advice. installed a tiny tach to help w break in and prop selection. i am soliciting advice thanks.

Just read owners manual fully to understand basic engine principles and have a good break in period, is the trim switch located on tiller arm or motor side ?

If triming right seems complicated, place engine at 90? distribute load evenly inside boat and out you go. Check you don't have any water splashes or prop cavitation at back transom when on plane or at close turns, if any of these issues are found will need to fine adjust engine height at transom for top cruising and max speed. A TT is the way to go for correct pitch selection at wot and correct maintenance service intervals.

the trim switch is on a cable, about 6 ft long. quite a substantial cable, rubber booted switch.i am really looking forwar4d to this weekend. thanks

Tohatsu ships those motors with a water-separator fuel filter. If for some reason it isn't installed, get it from the dealer, and be sure to run it. Modern motors run better if you can trap any water in the fuel. The filter should be as close as possible to the motor (downstream of the primer bulb).
