Hi guys....i am new to the board and was wondering if anyone can answer a fuel issue question... DO fuel pumps on these outboards come and go per say? I have a 9.5 evinrude and it will start and run yet looses prime easily... seems to loose prime easier at times like during turning etc etc...which made me think maybe it is a fitting at the fuel connection or o-ring.. once motor dies alls you have to do is put it on choke..pump bulb twice..and pull twice take off choke and pull again and it starts everytime...seems to me that it could easily be a fuel connection yet it appears that orings look ok...any ideas?? Or do the fuel pumps go bad in this fashion...thanks!!!!:)

Ahoy, bentosturgis.

Welcome to iboats. :)

There are a lot of suspects when that happens. Here are a few that I know of that can cause you to lose prime:
*Low float level in carb.
*Weak fuel pump.
*Air leak(s) in fuel lines and connectors.
*Restrictions in tank pickup or fuel lines.
*Restricted ventilation of fuel tank.

Good luck, and let us know what you find. :)

Well a fuel pump later she is back up and going .....did all the T/s and was fairly sure it was the pump... Used a Marine shop in Blue Sprnigs Mo. to get my parts.. Name of Marine service was Deans Marine Service... This guy is so nice and down to earth and VERY knowledgeable...... Number is 816-896-0495.... Thanks guys and looking forward to more posting on this sight ................
