I bought a 1983 cuddy walk around a few months ago. The guy i bought it off of said the motor was a 1989 Evinrude 175 hp V6. I have searched everywhere for the model/serial plate and can not find it. i also looked at the welch plug and only number i found was 392868. How else can i find out what size motor it is? i have tried searching part numbers off of the motor and still can not find out what year it is. Can someone please help me!!

Re: Evinrude

pics would help some of the more experienced guys id it. but have a real good look around the powerhead with a flashlight, sometimes the welch plug yer looking for is hidden behind some of the bolt on parts.

Re: Evinrude

I can tell you it is not a 1986-1990's evinrude 200-225.

The ignition system is pre 1988, so possibly a 1987. It apprears to be a crossflow, it is deffinately not a looper.

I would check the part nunmbers for the power packs, also the carb numbers on a online part number look up.

The motor number/stamping should be up under the flywheel on the rear side.

Hope this helps.
