Does anyone have any input on the Evinrude XP series of outboards? I have a 1992 XP with 200 hp...I bought the boat this year and want to make some repairs and do a little maintenance on her. So far I'm in the process of replacing all the lower gear seals, new impeller, new power pack, plugs/wires, and rebuild carbs...is there anything else anyone would recommend doing before spring time? Is there anything I need to look out for? Thanks guys, Skip

Re: Evinrude XP Series...

Before you do any more work, do yourself a favor and buy a service manual specific to your engine. It saves time and prevents or at least reduces the possiblity of making a mistake that can turn your engine into an expensive anchor. Link & sync synchronizes carb linkages so all carbs operate in unison, as well as synchronizing carb opening with ignitiion advance. This procedure is described in detail in the manual and is far too detailed to go into here. A factory manual is best.

Oh yeah, I do have the manual. I'll make sure to look into that when I do the rebuild. Once I get finished with everything I'll make sure to let everyone know how it went. Can't wait til next year...:)
